Weekend bibliophile fun! LOL

I'll bet it's been awhile, but you know the drill. Grab the nearest book, turn to page 23, and in the comments type in the fifth complete sentence. Then cite the book! :-)

"Both Ugaritic texts (1.45.1; 1.168.9) and biblical rituals (Leviticus 4-5) provide for divine forgiveness (*slh/*slh). -- from Mark S. Smith, The Early History of God: Yahweh and the Other Deities in Ancient Israel, 2d ed. (Grand Rapids: William B. Eerdmans, 2002).

Very cool. :-)

What's the fifth sentence on page 23 of *your* closest book?

Comments:
"Of course, the factors we have indicated are not the only determining actors of the Middle Ages." Ernst Troeltsch, Protestantism and Progress, Fortress Texts in Modern Theology.

So, toothpicks or tape? LOL Hee hee.

It must be that I'm sitting down, because that comment went right over my head.

To hold yer eyes open! Toothpicks or tape? Hee hee.

Ah. One of a couple small books I've kept out to keep from going through reading withdrawal during moving time. Actually, despite Troeltsch's clunky Teutonic prose (he knew it, too; called it "sailor's hardtack"), it is an interesting read - long essay really. Like much of Troeltsch's stuff, kind of overlooked anymore thanks to the neo-orthodox revolution, but still an important step in the process of cultural theological reflection.

"Explore pioneer trails and historic sites and hunt for fossils."
99 Things To Do In Yellowstone Country

Sounds fun!

"I will not push Gregory."
Jeff Kinney-
"Diary of a Wimpy Kid:Rodrick
Rules", New York: Amulet Books,
2008.

I know, kinda sad.

LOL! Not at all! "Cat Power!" by Daniel Kirk ("18-song CD Inside!") is in one of my to-read stacks.

"There are two kinds of bond energy." From "Advanced Organic Chemistry" 4th Ed., by Jerry March.

Alan, you *always* have the sexiest books nearby! LOLOL

I know, I'm just lucky that way. :)

How did I manage to miss this? I'm definitely behind on my blog reading. A bit late, but "By then most Astorians referred to the cannery as Union Fish." From Fins, Finns and Astorians by Greg Jacob (self-published, 2006). Why that book happens to be the one closest to where I'm sitting at the moment is a mystery.

Love it, nan. Your line sounds like a password!

"Below is an example."
ICD-9-CM. Millenium Edition. International Classification of Diseases, 9th Revision, Clinical Modification, Sixth Edition.

I think I should not play this game from the office.
