'God ... guard your own reputation ...'
Too bad, so sad. McPain has nothing but loonies left supporting him.
Oh, and no, the Rev. Arnold Conrad didn't "go too far." Let your prayers rip, brother.
The more of McPain's remnant of supporters, and the McPains themselves, get on TV, the better.

All right! IT'S ON!
Two bulls, two piles of wood.
Let McCain pray to his God and let Obama pray to his and see whose offering gets accepted!

Say, sometimes you just got to get Gods attention. I mean with all the wars and genocides and sins and all just on planet earth he is after all occupied. Nothing wrong with a little mild blaspheme to get him to notice what you are saying.
Especially when that blaspheme is an invitation to an awesome rockin' God-OFF!!
Sunday! Sunday! Suuuunnn-daaaaay!
LOL!
Time for sleep now. I think Im giddy...

Idn't it just somethin'? I swear, I have used the phrase, "That beats all I've ever seen" more in reaction to the McPain campaign than I ever have to anything.
I see a school cheerleader or some such in that scene. Reminds me that one of my niecelets, on Dr. ER's side, is in a school band drafted to play at a McPain campaign rally in Ohio the other day. She came home saying how McPain was a nice guy and all. If challenged, the school would probably say the band was called to play for a visiting dignitary, a U.S. senator. Still, it ain't right. That girl is gonna need deprogrammed now. Imagine the damamge potential to the kids in the Rev. Conrad's earshot.
Well, at least hopefully these guys have not been invited to her school:

Well, those kind of peeps are mainstream in much of the rural and mid-size-city South and West. Fact is, I don't have much gripe with them -- other than their intrusions into science class. No too much anyway. My astonishment at the Rev. Conrad appertains to his sheer hubris and near-blaspheming. And, his weak excuse afterward that he thought it was a private function and didn't know it would be recorded. Which just means he's not very bright.
"Which just means he's not very bright."
Well, he's a McGrumpy supporter. What do you expect? ;)
I love the notion that God, through this election, is going to do the equivalent of meeting the other gods out by the water tower after gym class.

(the following is parody)
Rev. Conrad: "I'm sorry!"
Interviewer: "You're sorry you implied that Obama wasn't a Christian? That you implied that God endorsed McCain? That you tempted God as Jesus refused to do in the desert?"
Rev. Conrad: "No, I'm sorry that my words became public and will now be used to out our stealth candidate and might hurt us with moderate voters."
ER, as for the "You can Run but You cant hide" people, I object in that the students were maditorily required to attend the events. The fact that some were not disciplined for walking out does not change the fact that they actually faced coercive discipline measures for leaving a required school event where they were being "indoctrinated" by people with a specific religious and political agenda

On a lighter note:
Mildred, the church gossip, and self-appointed monitor of the church's Morals, kept sticking her nose into other people's business. Several members did not approve of her extra curricular activities, but feared her enough to maintain their silence.
She made a mistake, however, when she accused George, a new member, of being an alcoholic after she saw his old pickup parked in front of the town's only bar one afternoon. She emphatically told George (and several others) that everyone seeing it there would know just what he was doing.
George, a man of few words, stared at her for a moment and just turned and walked away. He didn't explain, defend, or deny... He said nothing. Later that evening, George quietly parked his pickup in front of Mildred's house...walked home... and left it there all night!!!
You gotta love George . .

Ah, Teresa, I missed that part. The mandatory part. That's flat-ass against the law in a public school, and heads should roll.
But ER, don't you know that our nutjob fundie busybody friends are better judges of what kids should do in school than their parents? Permission slips? They don't need no stinking permission slips.
Just ask our buddy Neil. ;) LOL
Just ask our buddy Neil. ;) LOL
I'm reminded, like Teresa, of Elijah's confrontation with the prophets of Baal. I had hoped we were beyond this kind of thing, but apparently some people are stuck in the ninth century BCE. That they live in Iowa in the 21st century is just sad.
If I may give a bit of input from the center: Okay, now, let’s have a little love here. McCain’s not the antichrist. Since I had too much time on my hands with no-shows on Monday (darn Columbus Day, when will I ever learn?) I decided to have a bit of fun. (and that’s all this is--so smile, my liberal friends, and get ready for President Obama.) So let me take you back a bit to when you were all at least slightly complimentary:
“I voted for McCain, since he seemed the least batsh*t crazy, doesn't use the blood of 9/11 as a bumper sticker quote, doesn't believe the Earth is flat, and doesn't believe that Jesus and Lucifer are brothers.”
Alan: describing his choice in voting in the Republican Primary. 1-15-08
“Among the Republicans, the only one who doesn't make me cringe is McCain.”
ER, same date
“I like McCain's curmudgeonliness! I like his life experience. I LOVE that what passes for the establishment of the GOP despises him!”
ER, suggesting an Obama-McCain Ticket 2-20-2008
“McCain is probably the most authentically conservative candidate out there. I think Republican voters know that, despite the garbage the radio-talkers keep tossing out there. He was first elected during Reagan's time, and more than any other candidate in this race can seriously lay claim to the former President's legacy” Geoffrey Kruse-Safford 2-07-08
“Surely we want to elect someone as least as intelligent as a bark beetle.” Drlobojo describing the rest of the Republican field in referencing McCain’s support of global warming. 2-7-08
(Okay, well, that’s not really a compliment is it?)
Let us also not forget the slight droolings of ER over the “GILF” Palin, whom he christened as “Hot,” and “The real deal:” "She hunts, eats moose hamburger, ice fishes, rides snowmobiles, and owns a float plane."
Dang. I wouldn't vote for her, but I'd ask her out! :-) 8-28-08
On a slightly more serious note, I’d direct you back to the post of August 31st, 2004. ER is almost prophetic in the choice of speeches repeated. Good choices. Good speeches. By two good men.
I’ll be proud of America on November 5th, regardless of the outcome--assuming Florida doesn’t screw up again, in which case I’ll be hopefully proud sometime in late November.

The tide has turned. The media has turned on obamamama. He has gotten far enough ahead to make them turn on him. All day today the "NEWS" is ACORN. Yep, he got his start as a CO of the ACORN. He didn't fall far from that tree fo sho.
Heck, I'm not proud, I have no problem admitting that I was snowed by McCain. I voted for him twice in presidential primaries.
Clearly I was wrong. Just as our former Governor Milliken (R-MI) has withdrawn his endorsement because of McCain's, shall we say, erratic behavior at the end of this campaign, I wonder if I can withdraw my previous votes.
I bought the maverick BS hook, line and sinker, because I didn't look closely enough. That's my fault. I'm just glad we get to see, here at the end of the campaign, his true colors, what he does when he's backed into a corner.
And, given what we saw early on in this race, of the Republicans, I still think he was the best choice. It's just that now I'm even more certain that's not saying much.
I hope people will remember that when Huckabee, Romney, Giuliani, et. al. run again in 4 years: "Wow, those guys were so bad they lost to McCain."

Oh, Doc. Yer a hoot. :-)
Drooling still, BTW. ... I do like the old McCain, for a Repub, but he has turned nasty and brittle (or, brickle, as Mama ER would say).
My post here, tho, is about the looney tune in the video, who *is* bats--t crazy.*
*(No reflection intended toward his immortal soul).

"The tide has turned"
It always does...nothing compliments a carefully crafted narrative like a completel reversal.
Eventually, people will catch on like with that guy M. Knight Shmalyan(SP!?!?) and get tired of being jerked around.
The Palin crowd didn't like it when it was their girl, and they will be loving it now...only they will be putting a magnifying glass to it and saying "even the mainstream media sees our point finally!"
LOL.
Bored now.

I see no reason in the world why anything I have written since that comment is contradicted by the comment itself. McCain is a real conservative. He is the most Reaganite of those who ran in the Republican primaries.
His current campaign is a sinkhole of ugliness because, unlike Reagan, he has been behind (except for the brief Palin bump) for months. Reagan appealed to this same fringe group, but had enough mainstream support to overwhelm the reality that nutjobs like these were whores for him, too. Why do you think they are called the Republican base, Doc? This is it, these are the last of the true believers. What has happened since only confirms, rather than contradicts what I wrote back then.

In the interest of full disclosure, I too would have seriously considered voting for John McCain in the last election if he had gotten the Democratic nomonation. I grew up likeing and respecting him, and it is hard to see what is going on right now.
But I'm not going to pretend to like the campaign, or the direction I think his presedency woudl take under the current conditions. Life changes, people change, and opinions change with them.
