and then depression set in
tired.
tired of the news. tired of the election.
tired of the christmas tree and stockings still being up.
tired of reading. tired of writing.
tired of being in one place and the rest of my life being scattered over hither and yon.
tired of swinging from one thing looked forward to to the next, because there are always in-between times like this.
tired of the house. tired of thinking about it. tired working on it. tired of planning for it. tired of spending on it.
tired of being busy. tired of being bored.
tired of now. tired of then.
tired of working.
tired of thinking.
tired of feeling.
tired of hoping.
tired of praying.
just. effing. tired.
all of which is to say: blah.

Pray, ER, and we will pay for you. Burn out comes in many factors, and you're there. THERE.
Your mind rarely takes a break, but that's what it needs at this time. Knowing you, I think it's best that you shut it down, don't think, don't allow yourself to think, for a few hours or even a few days. Get out your old DVDs of NASCAR races, sit in your most comfy TV chair with a sip of whisky and melt.
Don't write (except to vent) and don't worry and don't think. It's not an easy task, but I suspect your brain is just knocking inside that dense skull of yours asking for a break. Give it one.

Hey, Teditor, I actually woke up at 3:30 this morning with some lyrics in my head. There you go. I'm right back where I started before I met Dr. ER -- the last time I could string words together with a tune and dare call 'em lyrics. Think Dwight Yoakam, but not his biggest hits.

I'm not worried about you because if your were clinically depressed your wouldn't be blogging, and I would be getting calls from Dr. ER to go up there and break down the door to make sure the dogs were being fed.
Stay off the fricking drugs unless you get into the deep shit. Believe me, you will know when you get there.
Mean time self medication, Beef Protien is good, about 20oz and 2 inches thick, 5 Snickers bars (dollar kind)in a row,not bad either. Chicken fried steak and mashed potatoes with bisqets, with extra extra thick white grease based gravy and Pinto beans relish onions and corn bread may help too!
About an hour before bed, make up about a quart of hot chocolate and lace it with about 3-4 shots of that Irish Creme Wiskey you got, that's a great sleeping aid it is.
Now after all that, if you still feel depressed, you're not a true Red Neck after all!

Oh, I'm just down, and tired. Clinical depression is a whole 'nother animal.

I just had a shot of Dr. ER! That's the thing. She was here last Wed-Tuesday. And, of course, the house is emptier than usual now.
Rhodiola's an herb (Rhodiola rosea), and probably the best anti stress supplement I've ever tried- doesn't work like B vitamins directly on the nervous system (I found I could never tell if anything had changed...), but makes your body become more adaptable to stress, and then reduces the effects of the stress: being tired, mind not working, loss of concentration, memory , not being able to sleep.
Best thing - it's cheap! And you only take one a day, or if you really want to one in the morning, and one early afternoon.
