'Ah so!' Me like-um ribs! Whasssssuuuup!

Dr. ER brought me some of this stuff frfom her last trip. What hoot, this! What political correctness?

So, let's come up with some more totally inappropriate brand names for ethnic condiments and foods! The trick to being offensive is to an equal opportunity offender!

Here are some starters:

"That's So Nice!" white bread.

"Yo Mama!" premixed fried chicken batter.

"Heap Big Piles" instant squash-corn-beans mash.

"Fixin' To" biscuit baking powder.

Carry on, y'all.

Comments:
Oh!

Hee hee.

"Jesus Shaves" Independent Baptist shaving cream.

"No He Doesn't" Neo-Jesus People beard wash.

"Swim for the Border" Taco Bell's new seafood recipe.

"Oy Vey" Helps make everything Kosher.

"Smoke'um, Drink'um, Bet'um" The buffet/bar of barbecued chicken at Feather Warrior Casino near Watonga, Okla.

"Equal opportunity offender?" Dude, no such thing. No such thing at all. The person doing the joke and the person hearing the joke and the subject of the joke are never equal at any time. Jokes are subversive; comedy is a weapon. They are strategy for bringing low anyone who is on high or is receiving too much nondeserved attention or accolades. Most of all, they make you THINK. Think about it, we make fun of our own lives, our own situations, to keep us from getting too full of ourselves.

All that's missing here. What an ad like that is a juvenile, mean-spirted poke at a group that is generally consider to be powerless to respond, or will not make a fuss. That stupid bottle's just a play on the stereotype that's used to perpetuate the unintelligible perpetual foreigner. No different than the Abercrombie and Fich ads from a few years back. And it's as much satire as the U of Col. column about "Let's start a war with Asians." (http://www.thecampuspress.com/home/index.cfm?event=displayArticle&ustory_id=c07cea4a-0e65-4465-a9c4-17d6deb357e8)

Let's just NOT offend everyone EQUALLY and instead offend the ones who are in need of it.

Cool. A serious discussion is emerging. :-)

Re, "The person doing the joke and the person hearing the joke and the subject of the joke are never equal at any time."

Richard Pryor's early career was baed on this very thing.

So was Jeff Foxworthy's.

The whole Blue Collar Comedy Tour phenomenon.

Carlos Mencino (sp?).

So I think, anyway.

Make that:

"Fixin' To" self-rising flour.
