MLK, LBJ, BS & WTH?

Great. Best chance in a decade to get an actual liberal president (or at least, God help us, a non-right-wing president) and the Democratic Party is going to tear itself up -- over who gets the credit for the civil rights movement?

Arrrrgh!

Yeah, this is a pain, alright. They just don't know how not to implode, do they?

I'm not an especial fan of Obama's because he doesn't say much of substance. I'm not a fan of Hil's because she's so pragmatic that she seems to have no actual ideas. I don't mind Edwards, but he sure did notice that there's wage inequity, a broken health care system and a crumbling industrial base here seemingly overnight, huh?

No matter. They're all years better than the slate of nuts over at the GOP.

infighting. how fun. not.

heard about this on NPR this morning, where they played a clip from Sen. Clinton's offending speech (a little ways in):

granted i wasn't real awake at the time, but absent the brouhaha i would've interpreted it as "this is why the right president is important if you want to get things done" not as a slam against Dr. King. context is everything, eh?

Re, "They're all years better than the slate of nuts over at the GOP."

Amen.

Yeah, this is a real "tear your hair" kind of thing. Of all the things in the world to start a political donnybrook, they decide to argue over the legacy of Pres. Johnson and King. It is made worse, IMHO, by the fact that most voters today don't really care all that much - they enjoyed the fact that the Democrats were talking about health care, the Iraq occupation, and other issues central to their lives. This is not to say that civil rights isn't important, but this isn't about civil rights, but who should get the credit for the changing face of race in America in the past forty years. More than WTH, this is a WTF kind of thing.

I think it's telling that this is what passes for "scandel" in the Dem. party lately.

The raw material can't be THAT thin, can it?

I am sort of glad to see it. Tired of having Republican jabs. Therefore, let's get us a president as liberal as we can! Then we can argue over something other than how Republicans and the Religious Right have screwed up the war in Iraq and the USA (and everywhere else). I am all for the most liberalist socialist we (mostly ya'll since I don't live there anymore)can find. Let's see if they can do any better. I'm ready to vote Democratic this year. But since I am a racist and a sexist, I'll have to look for someone else. =)

I think it's telling that this is what passes for "scandel" in the Dem. party lately.

If this is what passes for "scandal," then the Dems are doing pretty well vis a vis Ney, Cunningham, Fletcher, Bush, Rove, Cheney, Delay, Stevens, etc, etc, etc, etc

Well, it kinda beats all the bitching about religion ...

Hey, all this proves is that Obama and Hillary are politicians. Back in 1992, I actually looked into having a metal liscense plate made that said "Vote NO For President", In 2000 I kinda felt the same way.
Now! Well now if the Democratic Party ran the proverbial Yellow Dog with a Blue Pig as the running mate for President, I'd vote twice for them.

Vote early, vote often!

I still haven't ruled out Bill and Opus...

Ralph Wiggum for president!

OK, I can go there, but I want Opus and the Blue Pig.

Lisa Simpson for prez!

Jessica Simpson for president.

Oh, wait, we've had her for the last seven years. Never mind.

I though it was Bart?
