Twins separated at birth?

First cousins anyway.

Henry F. Potter:

Richard B. "Dick" Cheney:

--ER

Comments:
My father knew, slightly, Lionel Barrymore, and said he was a generous, kind man, utterly professional, and worked through a most crippling form of arthritis. Barrymore took the part of Potter because he had been, for years on end, the voice of Ebeneezer Scrooge in radio productions of A Christmas Carol, and wanted to play a part that would shatter the public image he had of the gruff, but ultimately kindly, Scrooge. In Potter, he found an unrepentant Scrooge, unmoved by any Spirit whatsoever.

Cheney has few of the redeeming qualities of Barrymore. He is the caricature of the scheming bureaucratic in-fighter, the pol dedicated to victory at all costs, and the lone courageous ideologue standing against the tide of forces bent on his destruction. He is an anti-hero more than a villain, lacking even Potter's rather bleak sense of humor ("They're not my children!").

Good call, E.R.

Is that hand to the left of Potter pulling on his ear?

You know Cheney has come a long way in life. He used to be just that S.O.B. that screwed Duncan, Oklahoma, now he has screwed the whole frickin world.

Potter may have been "nothing but a scurvy little spider", but at least he didn't shoot George Bailey in the face.

On the other hand, Newt Gingrich is clearly a Raxacoricofallapatorian.

What? No Dr. Who fans in the house?

Aren't you the same person who was so offended when I pointed out the similarity between Cynthis McKinney and Rocky the Squirrel?

I believe your exact words were:

"You're just being mean. Who wants to comment on that? Quit being a jerk."

It was meant as a humorous post, as yours is, but I guess some people just don't have a sense of humour.

For the record. I am not offended by your entry. I think it's humourous, although not as humourous as mine.

Also, for the record, if you re-read my post (linked above), you'll see that I was defending Ms McKinney, not ridiculing her, as you did to Cheney, who to my knowledge, has done absolutely nothing to deserve such derision. Other than being a Republican anyway.

I don't know about Newt, Lynn Cheney is suspiciously much like one of the Slitheens. I can easily visulize her stripping down while being interviewd on "The View".

Mark, you were making fun of the way she looks. I'm making fun of the evil ways of the vice president and Henry F. Potter, and their ever-present scowls.

You SHOULD be offended -- that the s.o.b. hasn't been impeached yet.

No, ER. I wasn't making fun of her at all. I was simply pointing out that that bad photo of her reminded me of Rocky the Squirrel.

Actually, she should be flattered to be compared with a real American hero, who defended America against the Boris and Natasha, who were obviously Communists, and Fearless Leader, who wore a uniform strongly resembling a Nazi uniform.

Being a former Congresswoman, she had sworn to defend America against all enemies, foreign and domestic.

Exactly what Rocky the Squirrel does.

Oh, and By the way. Exactly what has Cheney done that is impeachable? I keep hearing Libs say he should be impeached and that he is evil but I have yet to hear anyone explain specifically what he has supposedly done to deserve impeachment.

And drlobojo, that kind of cheap shot at Lynne Cheney is below the belt, even by your standards.

I heard a very fair interview on PBS last Saturday with Lynne Cheney, and I was impressed with both Mrs. Cheney and the kindness the usually Conservative hating PBS news people showed to her.

One would think you could be at least as gracious as them, but I guess you showed your true colors.

Mark - it is quite clear that he directed a member of his staff to reveal the name of a covert CIA analyst in direct violation of the law. He broke the law, endangered national security, diminished our resources for dealing with a potential nuclear threat, put the lives of the foreign nationals who provided information to this agent at risk - all for the purposes of political intimidation. This is the essence of high crimes and misdemeanors. Much more so than telling a grand jury that one did not receive oral sex from an individual not one's wife.

The only problem with that is the so-called covert analyst wasn't covert at the time. Other than that your charge is a good one.

But if we are going to convict Cheney on heresay "evidence", what would you have us do with Patrick (leaky) Leahy, who has a consistent habit of leaking classified information?

What's sauce for the goose is sauce for the Gander, is it not? Fry 'em all!
