First Presbyterian Church of Dallas gets it right
DALLAS (AP) — In response to a police crackdown on the homeless, a downtown church has opened its parking lot to homeless people, allowing as many as 150 of them to sleep on the pavement while a security guard keeps watch.
The First Presbyterian Church started the practice after police began removing people found sleeping in public places. The Rev. Joe Clifford sees it as a temporary solution until more options are available.

You know there are at least 6 places in downtown OKC that the homeless can go at night. One is even designed for homeless families.
Does this mean that such places don't exist in downtown Dalles?

There are places in every city where the homeless can seek shelter. That doesn't mean they're going to find it. Shelters are often too full to accept everyone who needs their help. The surprising thing to me about the Dallas situation is that the number in the parking lot is as low as it is.
