Time to upgrade my skill set

To stay marketable in the media, I'm going to have to go back to school. I'm considering the following. Y'all can help me decide which one. (Requires Adobe).

Interactive Media.

Graphic Communications.

Web Design and Development.

So, how 'bout it? This ol' dog can learn some new tricks.

As long as I'm in Oklahoma City, I'll stay in journalism, which could mean paper, broadcast or online -- or, probably, a hybrid of all of 'em.

In the Denver area, I might (heck, probably will) have to go to the Dark Side -- public relations (barf) -- UNLESS I can combine my experience with a technical upgrade.

Which program do you think would best augment a dash of radio, 20 years of writing and editing news and commentary, news management, planning, etc., a journalism bachelor's, a political science bachelor's, and a master's in history?

BTW, note: I've amended my sidebar: "Location: Oklahoma City area, Denver area, Oklahoma, Colorado, United States." Hey, it's a step! :-)

P.S. Drlobojo, I will save you the trouble: "Geronimo! Just do it! Take off! What're you waiting for?" ... Now, as you are an education specialist, I'm particularly interested in your considered opinion.

Comments:
Web Design and Development, of course. And you can practice your coding skills on this blog!

OK, OK, I couldn't resist.
If you have to move to the enlighten world of PR, then go for the "bling generator": Interactive Media. It has more flexability and utility in what it is doing that the other two.

Interactive media, because it includes all of them.

Ah...my formal forte...telecommunication/broadcasting/media. What my formal training was in, and where lies my underlying passion and interests, although not apparent in my general career choice.

Isn't there a cool word for "formal forte"?

I'll read up on these courses and we'll chat on them in the 'morrow.

Listen to Sharp Blessed Man. He knows his stuff better than any of the rest of us in this regard.

It ain't no trouble.

My friend does "Interactive Media", or at least you can call it that. He edits video and makes commercials. He has an audio engineering and strong computer background so all that helped but he is pretty much self taught.

Either way, you are going to essentially have to sare at a lightbulb all day.

Ah, but my aim is not to stare at the lightbulb all day, but to be the boss of the ones who stare at the lightbulb all day.

To help the poor geeks who come out of technical schools with mere fleeting notions of their creativity to find theior real muse, and help them think, to help them create real journalism, real stories and investigative stuff.

To be, as I have been, an editor period -- not a copyeditor, or video editor or 'Net editor or audio editor. An editor.

Perhaps I aim too high. But, hey, I vaguely remember working for a living. I can do it again.

Oh my.

What? All I mean is I will work in a store, or a factory somewhere, before I'll work as just a hired hand in the media -- unless it's a way station on the way to something more signficant. ???
