My brother's alleged 'dog'
This here is Big Brudder's dog, "Dawg." What kind of a hound *is* this critter?
Looks to me like he's part bigfoot and part used tire.
But he loooooovees my brudder! Brudder says Dawg just lays around with his head on his big ol' paws until he steps outside, and then Dawg jumps for joy and yips and hollers and carries on like the Lord his own self has stepped off the back porch.
First thought I had when I saw this pic was: "Stay on the road and out of the moors." (Name the flick).

"The Hound of the Baskervilles"
Dog looks like a primative Carolina Dog and Coyote cross with a touch of roadkill in him.

And, you know, Choctaw country is just 7 miles due south and across the river. I'll bet he's kin to the Boggy Bottom Monster.
He is so ugly he is cute. Brindle
looks like pit, but big floopy ears look like a shepard of some kind. Doesn't matter much. He is just like the rest of us. Heines 57, a little of this and a little of that. Doesn't matter much anyway. If he loves big brudder that is all that counts. :-)

That is a wicked looking dog. I hope he's as friendly to strangers as he is to Brudder. I'm going to have to go with some kind of hyena-pit bull hybrid.

Yeah, "American Werewolf..." but I think the line was "Stay on the road. Keep clear of the moors." Or "beware the moors..."
"He is so ugly he is cute."
That's what my kids would say. The word they use is "cugly." (prounced kyoo-glee).

He looks like a young, uncropped Great Dane. Or perhaps a Malamute crossed with a Grizzly Bear. Or maybe a distant relative of mine . . . (or perhaps not so distant)
That left hind leg is showing some blue heeler, too. I bet he is one sweet, loving animal. But I've got puppy hunger!
Sam IS indeed beautiful, to those of us who live in his home town (Santa Barbara, CA). He just needs a little botox, widely available here....
You know, I think perhaps Dawg isn't a dog at all. The more I look at him, the more I think he is a miniature yard cow. Moo.
For once I knew the source of the quote, but you confirmed the answer before I guessed. I thought "Hound of the Baskervilles" first, but then remembered that line was in "American Werewolf in London".
Now, I'm thinking it may have been in both the book version of "Hound" and the werewolf movie. It's been a long time since I read the Sherlock Holmes series of novels. I probably don't remember anymore. That's what old age will do to you.

Boxer/German Shephers/Dachsund/ Pit Bull, or any combination of two of any of those, or any combination of anything else.
That should cover them all.
That should cover them all.
"To that Providence, my sons, I hereby commend you, and I counsel you by way of caution to forbear from crossing the moor in those dark hours when the powers of evil are exalted." ---Hugo Baskervilles
Hot damn and doggies, got your brother's dog identified at last! It is a Chupacabra a.k.a. Goat Sucker!
