'Murder by Dewey Decimal'

My bloggy buddy and friend Tech (51313 Harbor Street), who is from the same one-horse, two-dog town I'm from in eastern Oklahoma, has done wrote hisself a book, "Murder by Dewey Decimal."

It's good. I don't read much fiction for the same reason most people don't like history: The first history they read bored them. Well, most of the fiction I read early on bored me.

"Murder by Dewey Decimal" is not boring. Danged if Tech didn't get me caring about the characters right off the bat. I've laughed out loud more than a few times, and moaned once or twice, at Tech's turns of phrase, and the words he puts in his characters' mouths.

Interesting to me personally is that I can hear small-town voices and world views in this book, which, of course, is set in a small town in Oklahoma. He mentions our hometown, and mentions the suburb I live in now, which are just fun bonuses.

"Murder by Dewey Decimal" came in Monday's mail and I've almost finished it. Now, I would never say anything negative about it, Tech being my friend, if I thought it -- I'd just be quiet.

The fact that 1., I don't care for much fiction; 2., I am giving his book a positive report; and 3., I think I got my money's worth from buying it -- all that should count for something.

Check it out -- ha ha, a little library humor there!

What I mean is: Buy it.

Buy it in paper or by download here.

Buy it in hardback here.

Buy goofy "Murder by Dewey Decimal" merchandise here.

Comments:
Tech's your friend and a hometown buddy and you STILL had to buy his book? Wow. You are a good friend.

:-)

Teditor, here is hoping you the sucess of our guy from Shawnee, Oklahoma.
You know ole Anthony Hillerman, he started out much like you have.

Dude, if I ever get my own book published, I ain't gonna be giving it away! :-)

Drlobo, it's Tech who did the book, not Teditor -- although I'm sure Teditor's got a book or two in him!

Mine'n be part history, all non-fiction, and it'd likely involve a rodeo tale or two.

But I'll take DrLobo's well wishes, no matter to whom else they were intended.

And, ER, I'd give you an advance copy of my book. Whether you'd return the favor of this yet-to-be-published prose is completely up to you.

ER, thanks! I'm overwhelmed. That is best review so far, and I appreciate you for giving it.

Teditor, ER knows that I would buy all my family and friends a book if I could afford it. But unfortunately I cannot. This review will get him a mention, though, in the dedication of the next one!

ER, you can bet that when you do get one published -- even if it's history -- I will buy it, read it and brag to my friends I know ya. And I will enjoy it because you write well enough that I've told you before that you make history interesting even to me. And that ain't easy.

Drlobojo, if you meant that encouragement for me, thanks. I'm a big fan of Hillerman and have almost all of his books.

Tech,

I guess the hard time I intended for ER fell upon you. No offense intended toward you. Just razzin' ER the way I suspect he'd razz me.

I agree with you on ER's writing. He makes his "work" topics interesting, and I didn't think ANYBODY could do that.

Teditor, no offense taken. I recognize joshing. But I did want folks to know that just because I wasn't able to give ER a book didn't mean I didn't value him. In fact, I rarely rattle my verbal sword on this blog -- except when folks attack him unfairly here as ER knows. It's kinda like this: He's hometown family. I can talk bad about him if I want, but nobody else better do it.

Hey, ER, is it okay if I cross-post this review at my blog and at my Lulu site?

OK, you got me. I read the preview of the book now I've got to have it... Drop another coin in the bucket. Don't want to mess with the download so order it I will. Mr big big sister....

Thank you, Big Big Sister! I appreciate it!

Tech, crosspost away! :-)

It's been cross-posted at Lulu, and I'll cross-post it on Harbor Street for tomorrow. Thanks again!

And is that Mr Big Big Sister or is it Big Big Sister? Just wanted to get my genders right!

Tech, that is Mr. Big Big Sister, my brother-in-law! :-)

Tech-Teditor, hell, all you guys look so much alike........
Congratualtions Tech.
My family is full of writers (of which I am not one)and I know that getting a book written, editied, re-edited, vetted and then published is no small feat.
May this be just the first in a long series of books for you.

Then thank you Mr. Big Big Sister for the purchase.

Thanks, Drlobojo. Teditor and I look alike, though? Man, he's lucky because I'm one handsome man that all the girls dig. :)

Tech,

I pitty you if anyone thinks we look alike. But I reckon we're both better lookin' than ER.

:-)

Teditor, I'll have you know that many women have thought ER was attractive. Of course, they were blind and deaf and somewhat mentally challenged, but there were many females -- some of which were human -- who thought he was one hot redneck before he was disfigured in that terrible branding accident in 1989, the details of which are even now a great mystery, particularly to the animal control officers and the goats involved.

ER, I "bolded" the link to your blog in the crosspost and added two more bolded links. Just trying to keep ya happy! :)
