God bless Keith Olbermann: J'accuse! J'accuse!

Heard this last night. Unlike Nixon, Bush will never resign.
George is on a mission from God to bring on the Rapture. He can't just hand it all over to the Godless Democrats, just because of an election or the constitution.
Shit I wouldn't put it past him to attempt a coup detat based on the recent revisions of the Insurrection Act:
Public Law 109-364, or the "John Warner Defense Authorization Act of 2007" (H.R.5122) (2), which was signed by the commander in chief on October 17th, 2006, in a private Oval Office ceremony, allows the President to declare a "public emergency" and station troops anywhere in America and take control of state-based National Guard units without the consent of the governor or local authorities, in order to "suppress public disorder."
Now I suspect Morshill will see this as a positive law and order thing right up untill they imposed 6a.m.-6p.m. shoot-to-kill curfew on his neighborhood.
But of course I am havng a wild eyed fantasy here. I'm sure that Cheney had some other reason to get the law passed, rather than supression of American citizens.
Oh, maybe they will go after those 20 million illegals and create a sistuation to impose it.
Naw, just being paranoid again.
But why change the concept of The Insurrection Act (10 U.S.C.331 -335), along with the Posse Comitatus Act (18 U.S.C.1385), which held to enforce strict prohibitions on military involvement in domestic law enforcement. With one cloaked swipe of his pen, Bush undid those prohibitions. Why does he need that power?
Happy forth of July ya'll.

These are the times that try men's souls. I used to think that talk like drlobojo's was paranoid, radical stuff. I am beginning to wonder.
I am beginning to wonder if having the facts, and public opinion, on one's side matters anymore. I'm beginning to wonder if all this noise we're making matters anymore. I'm beginning to wonder if this isn't just sound and fury, a tale told by an idiot, signifying nothing.
One could get very, very despondent. I do believe that I am, in fact, very, very despondent. I do believe that, on this day, 4 July, 2007, we are actually bidding adieu to the America we once knew. I wonder if, in fact, our goodbyes aren't already too late.
Olbermann is correct, but irrelevant. I am right, but irrelevant. Patrick Leahy is right, but irrelevant. ER, atrios, digby, Parklife, Democracy Lover - all right. All equally irrelevant. The law no longer matters. Facts no longer matter. Tradition, precedent, respect for the Constitution - none of it matters.
When intelligent people can come forward and insist that there is no qualitative difference between the actions of George W. Bush and any other president in history, we have lost the ability to reason. When people are paid to lie, and to repeat lies, and to insist that their lies are in fact the truth, that facts are irrelevant, that we . . . that we . . .
I'm sorry. I'm crying now.
God.
What is happening to us?

Jeesh man.. things may be crappy now. But, they do go in cycles. Did you see that Obama raised nearly the combined amount of cash as the two top republican candidates! The best part about this was the number of people donating to his campaign. Sure, its not like poor people have a vote anymore. But, at the very least, the middle class might be organized enough to do something.
Its not all bad.
Its not all bad.
Gotta read histroy, Geoffry, to get a little perspective. Things are effed up now. They have been effed up before. Although I dare say even the Civil War itself was more honest that the current bullshit. One doesn't even know where the lines are because they shift so much -- which is another way of saying George W. Bush is a dangerous liar. Served by dupes and fellow liars.
ER said: "Gotta read history, Geoffry, to get a little perspective. Things are effed up now. They have been effed up before."
True, true, so true.
As the Oklahoma philosopher,Roger Miller, said: "the pendulum swings like the pendulum do..".
Fred Thompson is going to run for President, can not Law & Order follow?
One 4th of the July stories that I was particullary impressed by yesterday was the one where 100 American soldiers in Iraq where sworn in as new American citizens.
Good story, but it opens up the underlying reality. Twentyfive percent of the American Army is made up of non-citizens. That should give pause to all.
Has the pendulum swung all the way yet. What happens during the rest of its swing right? What happens during its point of equilibrium.
Can Obama save us? Will Hillery actually win? Will we invade Iran or Mexico first? Will we be annexed by China? Will Texas seceed again? Will Wisconsin hold back its cheese supply? Will Idaho close its borders. Will Oklahoma share its water? Will the fundalmentalist breed the pure Red Hefer and bring the kingdom of heaven on earth?
Chaos, I love it so. I do love it so!

I was a bit down yesterday when I wrote that. I'm better now.
What's with the red heifer?
Here's my one caveat to the whole "pendulum swinging" thing - as drlobojo says in his initial post, there are laws in place right now that give the President the power to call a halt to elections. What happens should he do so? Seriously. That is a dangerous, dangerous thing.
Should Wisconsin withhold cheese, there is always New York Extra Sharp Cheddar, or Vermont Mild. Other states have great cheese.

You know the concept of "color" is an abstract thing. What Red are they talking about anyway. What is "cow red"? If they haven't seen it in 2,500 years how do they know the "tint" is correct? What if they think it is right and they get it wrong?
I will stick with my White Buffalo instead.

This is rich. So rich. It hasn't been long since you all hated Bush because he didn't send the Guard now you bitch because he can. You just bitch and gripe about every little thing. Why, cause you lost your one lousy vote. I'm glad he does what he wants and doesn't care what you think about it. A couple of years from now it will all start again and we'll switch sides. I can't wait for you all to be on the winning team and see what excuses you come up with when things go to shit. And it will.
Wow, anonymous, you are a really brave soul. I'm impressed with your lack of logic, your invective, your limited vocabulary, and your steely nerve at not leaving a forwarding address.
You got one thing right, though. In a couple years, the Democrats will own both houses of Congress and the White House. Your stopped clock was just right for the first time today.

Re, "You just bitch and gripe about every little thing."
Yes. What's yer point?
With Clinton, I bitched and griped about half to three-quarters of what he did. I just didn't have a blog then.
So, either get a handle, and stick to it, or get off my cloud.

Ever notice that many Republicans don't have a sense of humor. They can't tell a good joke unless its a law, and can laugh at anything unless it an insult about someone. Irony is lost on them. They think it is a type of metal. Yep, and many of them have the same last name:Anonymous.
I have a GREAT sense of humor. I keep coming back HERE, don't I?
A little tit for tat for muh man, ER.

Interesting how even Keith Olbermann lists 3,586 Americans dead, but doesn't mention the tens (probably 100's) of thousands of Iraqi dead, or the millions of Iraqi refugees who have fled the country.
Just like we all know that 48,000 GI's died in Vietnam, but rarely do we hear about the 2-3 million Vietnamese dead (our losses aren't even close to their rounding error!)
What a self-centered society we are.
