Global warmin' -- hittin' where it hurts?
Now, THIS is a crisis!
Jack Daniel's water supply is drying up.
I'm not a Jack man. But Lynchburg, Tenn., where Jack Daniel's is distilled, is only 12 miles from Tullahoma, Tenn., where George Dickel is distilled! Dang drought!
Dickel beats 'em all, although I just discovered Elijah Craig, a good bourbon. Sigh. I imagine that the drought in Tennessee extends up into Kentucky.
Name YOUR poison!

Now if that's not a reason for good ol' boys to get on the environmental bandwagon, I don't know what is.
Ain't got a dog in the fight when it comes to JD. Too hard for me.
But I noticed you are reading Michner's "Centinnel." I am reading "Source" and love it.
Sorry about the crisis. Maybe Bush can keep his mouth shut. He let's out a lot of hot air. =)

When I drink, which is rare, it's Glenlivet. but that's scotch... sorry.
If I had to drink Bourbon, and I had my druthers, Wild Turkey would be my choice... Elijah Craig is also a mighty fine bourbon. But all these bourbons can't hold a lick on a decent single-malt scotch. Wild Turkey and Elijah Craig wet their pants every time Single-Malt walks into the room. And nothing comes close to touching the glorious...Ahhhh... of Glenlivet. There are better scotches than Glenlivet, but with the others I'd have to lay down $100 or more for a decent bottle. As it is, a bottle of 30 year old 'livet will run you $140 bucks. That's too rich for my blood, so I stick to 16 year old when I can find it. But the standard 12 year old still kicks Jack's patootie.
But then, I rarely drink... and I mean rarely. The last shot of G I had was almost two years ago.
Rebel Yell is a decent bourbon. But Jack, along with Evan Williams-- which is better that Jack in my estimation --is for folks who haven't tasted better, and can't tell the difference.
I reckon them's fightin' words.
And I bet you thought I was a prude.

Why, EL, it never once crosseed my mind that you might be prudish. Your too full of fire to be a sissy.
Pech, I hope to have "Centennial" complete by our second full year of living in Colorado.

Me and Mr. Turkey used to be buds, BTW, back when he still came in 86 proof.
Scotchwise: Dewar's will do.
I like Jim Beam rye whiskey, too.
I've never had Rebel Yell! Looks like it'd be pretty harsh. I'll give it a sip.
Old Granddad and Fighting Cock should be marketed as lighter fluid. Ugh.

Dickel, huh? Mayhaps I'll sample a pint. I'm sensin' some alcoholic snobbery hereabouts. I'll stick with John Daniels for now. The smell of Bourbon takes me back to a foul night of some 30 years ago. Scotch? I remember one heavy drinker describe scotch as resembling stagnant water from a warm hose. Seemed to fit, but I haven't tried too many brands. But all and all, default to "pick your poison".
Glenlivet is best enjoyed poured straight from the bottle. If you must have it chilled, put the bottle in the icebox-- do NOT pour it over ice.
For drinkin: Platt Valley Corn Liquer out of the jug.
For sipping: McCormick's B.J Holiday's Private Stock (hard to get except in Weston Mo.)

ER, once past the pliestoncene, Centennial picks up interest very fast. The 12 hour VHS version starts with the mountain men. Should be available in a Colorado Library.
Pecheur, I just re-read The Source last year. Excellence vision of a land over time, and an archeological site. Now even the "modern" Israeli stuff is history. By the way the monolith in my back yard is named El. It hasn't yet been struck by lightning.

Global warming caused this drought? OooooohKay
Scotch? Never acquired the taste. But being a long time bourbon drinker, for the taste, Blanton’s is hard to beat, though a bit pricey. Overall value I’d have to go with Dickel.
