What sparked Bro. Falwell's heart attack?

He finally actually read the Sermon on the Mount.

Scared him to death.

That's beneath you, ER.

Hey, weren't you over at my place hassling me over my Falwell obit?

That said, what would the man be saying if the shoe were on the other foot and all the people he hated--the feminists, the gays, the folks who believed in American civil liberties--had suddenly dropped dead?

FF, I don't think it's beneath me at all, mainly because of what B said.

Falwell was wrong about almost everything he opened his mouth about publicly, at least in my lifetime. I can't speak for his early sermons at Thomas Road Baptist, but considering the time and place, I can safely assume that he was wrong then, too, as almost everyone else was in that time and place.

I dare not judge his soul. I freely judge his words and actions in the public sphere: hateful, prideful, gluttonous. Wrong. Whatever Christ he says he worshiped, by all appearances it was far removed from Jesus of Nazareth.

B, I hassled some of your commenters, not you. Your "obit" was harsh, but rooted in facts and words from the man himself. Some of your commenters are hateful sumbitches, though.

Brother Farwell was a serious seeker of the Kingdom of Heaven all of his life. He looked forward to its coming. His only real mistake was not reading the words of Jesus and understanding them. The Kingdom was within himself, and he never showed that he truly understood or embraced that reality.

But Hell, he had a train whistle for his car horn, how could he not go to heaven.

Only now touches eternity.

You really should "Take the high road", just once in your life Mr. ER.
That was rich too, doc saying he didn't read or understand the words of Jesus. According to most on this post the Bible doesn't mean what it says.

I'd call this a side road, compared to the utter attacks beiogn leveled on the good revrund elsewhere.

And if the Bible mneant what it said, we'd ALL BE TOAST.

Anyone who's actually read it, using their brain as well as their heart, knows to take it seriously, but not much of it literally.

Anon, I said he didn't get the point, not that he didn't read it.
It is not what is posted here that irritates you is it? Is it not what you bring here yourself.
