Don Imus: martyr to hysteria

If he has to close down the ranch, and stop every other good thing he's done with his name and his welath, it will serve every self-righteous hypocrite right.

Comments:
Imus wasn't born yesterday and he is by no means a "free agent". He is a corporate entity himself. His "people" probably have been working on the satilite radio deal since last weekend. He may have to go for several million dollars less than Stern however, being that his bargining position is a mite poor right now. Did anyone mention that he was fired by CBS in the middle of his two day charitable radio marathon held each year?

Now that the Cat is out of the bag. Watch what censorship comes your way now. Everybody's gonna get a little scratch from this one.

Rock on shock jocks! Rock on!

I don't think Imus will end up homeless....he may have a bit put aside.

But I am as disappointed in CBS for
their reaction as I am in Imus for saying what he said.

They knew (and made buttloads of money off of) what made him popular ...... his mean arsed sense of humor.

As far as the race issue goes...
my name is Paul... and this is between ya'll...

I am a fat middle aged cracker ....
we don't get to use racial epithets.

Small price to pay for the historically advantageous pigmentation......

I mean... my life was probably easier because I am a honkey... I wish all things were equal ... but they never have been treatment wise.

So I just try to not be a racist, a bigot, a hater.... whatever ya wanna call it I try to be color blind... I really do.

But I am still a Honkey so I just try not to use racial slurs.... not fair mebbe... but still a better deal treatment wise.

Imus said a studid thing. The sponsors reacted to pressure. CBS and MSNBC reacted to pressure. Will this snowball and suck up everyone? Who knows?

I grew up in a household where racial epithets were common. As I got older and began to understand it, I realized that the best thing to do is just stay away from talking about race.

It may be a fearful stance, but I haven't lost my job over it.

Dang, that sounds lame, doesn't it?

But then, if I let every blessed thing that runs through my head spill out of my mouth, I'd always be unemployed and often in fist fights.

I sorta think that I'll hear Imus on my XM soon. And I can't help but think that Imus is the sacrificial lamb on the speech issue. There's plenty of ugly being said out there.

Do you suppose it carried extra heft since he gets so many powerful people on his show?

But then, what about Limbaugh who gets Cheney on his show?

Now none of it's making sense. Expect a meaningless post about poop or spit or or hair or cats at my blog later.

If Imus has to shut down any of his charitable pursuits, then he's not doing it right. They should be all supporting themselves through foundations and the like and not need the actual Imus to survive.

Never met an eliomosinary organization that didn't need a larger endowment.

OK, it is "eleemosyary".

I did say "survive," drlobojo. Of course they could all use a larger endowment. It doesn't need to come from Imus himself, though.

He'll land on his feet when the next person slips and speaks his mind and takes the spotlight off him.

Over the weekend the TV was full of Black anger and White angst over the Don Imus fiasco. Imus's show has now progressed from a place where a shock jock made stupid statments to a source of evil incarnate and racsim for many years.
The Black comentators/panel members/interviewees had their heads up high, noses in the air, while the White counterparts smiled neverously, eyes darting, heads down slightly.
It became a Black/White issue. Other Americans need not comment.
Lots of people hate Imus. He is now a Devil. Every Devil needs his counterpart, so the Duke Womens Basketball Team have become incredible angels full of grace.

Well Imus, you should have ought to listend to Tom Thumb's Blues,
"Now everybody said they would stand beside me when the game got rough.
Well the joke was on me,
there wasn't even anyone there to bluff...."

Glen Beck, Rush Limbaugh, and all other motor mouths take notice you are next. They have you on their list. Oh yes, and Al and Jessie take care, they'll get you on the backswing.

OK Rutger's not Duke. Duke is a whole nother subject.
