Vote Democrat: We suck less!

Pitiful slogan, I know. But until my party gets it s--t together, it's the best I can come up with to offer disaffected Repubs, moderates and everyday people who are paying attention to the decline and decay of the republic.

Now that the torture and detention bill will become law, it is necessary to focus on the political implications of what happened yesterday and, more broadly, what has been done to our country by the Bush administration and the blindly loyal Congress for the last five years. It goes without saying that the conduct of Democrats generally (meaning their collective behavior) was far, far short of anything noble, courageous or principled. And one could, if one were so inclined, spend every day from now until November 7 criticizing the strategic mistakes and lack of principle of Beltway Democrats and still not exhaust the list.

But that's all besides the point at the moment, because ...

Read all about it.

Comments:
37 days till the midterm election it is.
That's time enough for 1.65 chickens to hatch.
Time to give lie to "they haven't been able to attack the homeland since 9-11".
Time enough for Bush to produce OBL's foozen body out of cold storage.
Time enough for all manner of October surprises.
But not time enough for my Democratic political party to grow enough balls to produce enough testestorne to act like the proverbial "a man".
The Republican's winning is only the greater of the two evils.
Why settle for the lessor of two evils?
It is time for a serious change in American Politics.
Vote them ALL OUT!
Damnit VOTE THEM ALL OUT!
This the offical John Spruce Society Slogan for 2006!
DAMN IT! VOTE THEM ALL OUT!

I endorse this and stand behind MY President, while remaining shocked by the very unSpruce all-cap typography of our slogan.

Thank you for your loyal support TS.
You are entirely correct about the upper case, Our slogan will be:
"Damn it, vote them all out!"

Drlobojo, your bile runneth over. Nip it!

If y'allses' bitterness helps discourage Dems from voting and these maniac bastards keep both houses of Congresses, how will we be better off??

I so totally disagree with the "throw the bums out" idea, for one reason: It won't happen -- not at the voting booth.

You say you want a revolution? That's what you're talking about. Sure. Bring it on.

In the meantime, it'll take at least 20 more years for me to get so soured on it all that I abandon the system entirely.

Vote Dem: The ass you save may be your own.

Settle down young one.
I always vote Deomcrat. I always fill in the Party arrow at the top of the ballot. I have since 1963. I hold my nose sometimes but I always vote Democratic, none of this voting for the best person shit. I know in government, it is the party that controls not the person. Been there seen that. But as a Good Yellow Dog Deomcrat I reserve the the perogative to Bitch about my party. That is why I am a Democrat and not a Republican. Republicans are all followers. Democrats are all wanderers.

Besides that if they trun them ALL out the Democrats would have both houses. I stand by the John Spruce slogan!

I know.

That was some of my own bile.

Carry on.

"Settle down young one"? Can you be anymore condescending?
--Chandler

Oh, ah -- huh.

1., I know Drlobo is an old fart and has paid the appropriate dues required to call a 42-year-old a "young one."

2., At 42, I'll take every opportunity to be called young, condescending or not -- but I didn't take it as condescending as much as a tut-tut kind of jab.

Ha! I just got the joke!

What you meant to say, Chanandler Bong, was "Can you *be* any more condescending?" :-)

I don't get the joke.
Now now... I know what your thinking.

Yes, I can be more condescending and can exhibit a much more
patronizingly superior manner than that. For example I could have said, "Now ER get down off your high horse and don't fall down as you do it."
Or I could say, "Chandler is exceptionally perceptive and I am so sorry that I have tromped so hard on the sensibilities of his immature youth."
Or I could say that I patronize someone young enough to be my child and someone of age to be my grandchild bites my ass about it.
But because of my age and wisdom I distain saying any of the above for they might give offense.

Heh. It was a "Friends" reference.

"Friends" as in the TV show?
When it comes to current or recent sit-coms I am culturally illiterate. As you say, and I admit, I am an Old Fart. The only thing I know about current sitcoms is that Tex Ritter's grandson is in a new one.
So should I have been "nicer" about this?
Baah! forget that, I'll do the curmudgemon thing and be done with it.
