Imaginary 'Path to 9/11'

From the Democratic National Committee:

The ABC television network -- a cog in the Walt Disney empire -- unleashed a promotional blitz in the last week for a new "docudrama" called "The Path to 9/11."

ABC bills the two-night production as a public service that is "based on the 9/11 Commission Report." That is false -- it is actually a bald-faced attempt to slander Democrats.

"The Path to 9/11" is a conservative attempt to rewrite the history of September 11th to blame Democrats. The Walt Disney Corporation could have given Americans an honest look at September 11. Instead, the company abandoned its duty to the truth -- and embraced the fiction known as "The Path to 9/11."

Read all about it.

Is anyone surprised? Note it wasn't ABC News that produced this. Whoever is the ABC evening news anchor (sorry, I am blinded by the lovely Ms. Couric) now should walk off the damn set in protest.

As Drlobojo, who pointed me to this, says, paraphrasing the country's current leadership: "It's not Fascism if we do it."

Comments:
Is that the same Couric that was on the Today show? What did they do to her face? Is she animatronic now? Is that a push up bra? Is ABC/Mouse the new "Stepford" news anchor factory? Do the Neo-facist think it is alright to lie because they think Mr. Moore and Mr. Gore did? It is alright to be immoral if you believe your opposition is immoral? Where does that circle end? Inquiring minds want to know.

Well, hmmm...I went to the site below (sorry I don't know how to link it directly) and read the promotion for the "Path to 9/11". What part of the promotion was the bald-faced attempt to slander Democrats?

Not the promotion. The production.

Didn't know you were such an important member of the media that you got an advance copy of the movie. When did you have time to watch all 5 hours?

Well, of course, I haven't seen it so I don't know if it's as bas as it sounds. But I'd be reluctant to keep it off the air. If it's that blatantly political, though - especially this close to an election - then perhaps the Dems could get equal time for a rebuttal?

I think it'll work out the way it should. If it's patently false, truth will out. The fact that people who were actually there are crying foul says a lot.

Conservative Bloggers did actually receive a preview copy, and yes ER is a big enough news dog that he could get one. By now you've probably heard the producer say that they used their "creative liscense" on several of the scenes. Including the fictional one where the White House calls off the sniper who has Ben Ladin in his sites.

Clinton made 4.5 mil last year speaking in the middle east. They're still paying him off.
Worthless piece of

I've heard that neither side will be happy about it. I'll be glued to it.

Anonymous, do you REALLY want to start seeing who's gotten the most middle eastern oil money...?

Supporting Bush's vain supidity because you hate Clinton is the proverbial cutting off your nose to spite your face.
In fact that phrase actual means that you are killing your own "spiritual powers". You hack off the nose of an idol to remove its power.
Your own hate does actually lead you to the "dark side". Satan, chuckles within you. Listen....

As I said before conservative bloggers and some Canadian bloggers have seen the Path To 9/11. Tahat's where I picked up on my first impressions and then went to the DNS web site. It took the DNC two days to get its act together, but finally got off it dead deirrier and now we have a little heat be generated.
This is from the current DNC effort. It seems to be factual based on exploring the original sites. But caveate lexor it is from the DNC:

1: Richard Clarke -- the counterterrorism czar for the Clinton administration, now himself a consultant to ABC News -- describes a key scene in "The Path to 9/11" as "180 degrees from what happened." In the scene, a CIA field agent places a phone call to get the go ahead to kill Osama Bin Laden, then in his sights, only to have a senior Clinton administration official refuse and hang up the phone. Sandy Berger, President Clinton's National Security Advisor, called the same scene "a total fabrication. It did not happen." And Roger Cressey, a top Bush and Clinton counterterrorism official, said it was "something straight out of Disney and fantasyland. It's factually wrong. And that's shameful."

2: Another scene revives the old right-wing myth that press reporting made it impossible to track Osama bin Laden, accusing the Washington Post of blowing the secret that American intelligence tracked his satellite phone calls. In reality, responsibility for that blunder -- contrary to "The Path to 9/11" -- rests with none other than the arch-conservative Washington Times.

3:The former National Security Council head of counterterrorism says that President Clinton "approved every request made of him by the CIA and the U.S. military involving using force against bin Laden and al-Qaeda," and the 9/11 report says the CIA had full authority from President Clinton to strike Bin Laden. Yet chief "Path to 9/11" scriptwriter Cyrus Nowrasteh, a friend of Rush Limbaugh, says the miniseries shows how President Clinton had "frequent opportunities in the '90s to stop Bin Laden in his tracks -- but lacked the will to do so."

4: ABC asked only the Republican co-chair of the 9/11 Commission, Tom Kean, Sr., to advise the makers of "The Path to 9/11". The producers optioned two books, one written by a Bush administration political appointee, as the basis of the screenplay -- yet bill the miniseries as "based on the 9/11 Commission Report."

Ah Katie what have you got yourself into?

For Righty Right and others I tell you what, why don't you trade us "Liberals" the death of ABC's the "Path to 9/11" for the death of CBS's "Reagan" mini-series several years back? Or better yet, let's see ABC run this movie back to back with Mr. Moore's 9/11 tirade. A we present you decide kinda thing.

Actually I think I will write my Senators and ask them to reconsider the fainess doctrine now that their time and at bat is over. Without that doctrine and with their behavior as a future guidlines for the Democrats, the Republicans will get hammered into the same historical purgatory that the Whigs inhabit.
Meantime let us see what the puppet master Bin Laden has up his sleave.
