'Illegal, dishonorable war'

This just in. Comment left on my May 17 post about West Point Graduates Against the War:

Just wanted to inform you that we our membership is now over 150. We had a jump start from the opposition which the legal staff at West Point raised when we opened our site. Since that time our numbers continue to grow as we speak out in various places.

One of our aims now is to encourage impeachment proceedings to have the issues which we have raised discussed openly in congress.

From six members in May to 150 in August. Their membership is a fairly elite one after all, so that's quite a jump in three months. Maybe there is a movement here.

Well, if they mean 150 West Point grads, that's phenomenal, actually.

But, is that what they mean?

Nope, you have to be a grad or a certified family memeber of a deceased grad.
Still, that's pretty narrow, and give the dead a voice as well.

By the way I saw that Bush set a firm minimum (not earlier than) deadline for troop withdrawal from Iraq today. They will not be withdrawn before January 2009. I thought he was against firm deadlines on troop withdrawal. Just goes to show you what happens in an election year.

Impeachment is too good for him.

"a nation which needed a president of penetrating vision, moral courage and practical grasp was given (an) incompetent chieftain ..."

Impeachment is too good?

What, pray tell, in your estimation, is good enough? Where are you willing to draw the line?

Its nice to know they are still turning out intelligent officers at West Point. They will be around when Dubya is gone.

For what I can ascertain, "The sole penalties on conviction (of impeachment) are removal from office and disqualification from holding other federal office; however, the convicted party is liable to subsequent criminal trial and punishment for the same offense."

Would he then be subject to criminal charges say in the Halliburton theivery? Probably not because the new President Cheney would give him a blanket pardon.

I say impeach Cheney first. This of course depends on the Democrats winning both the House and Senate.
No Republican would vote for either impeachment even if there was a video tape of them killing Jon Bene' Ramsey.

Such an impeachment would cause a Civil War. But if it were sucessful Nancy Polosi would be Comander in Chief.

Woops, I think my mind just turned inside out.

"What, pray tell, in your estimation, is good enough?"

Well, if I were the vindictive sort who appreciates tremendous irony, I'd say seeing him impeached, imprisoned, and then serve out his sentence fighting on the frontlines of the war that he created would be a bit of poetic justice.

Or perhaps, less vindictively but more poetically ironic, he could serve out his sentence tending to the maimed civilians' wounds, carrying them to the potty when they couldn't walk there themselves, cooking meals for those orphaned by his actions, that sort of thing.

I wouldn't subject the amputees or orphans to his kind of help.
