NEW YORK Universal Press Syndicate has requested a copy of a report about Ann Coulter's alleged plagiarism, according to a post on the TPMmuckraker.com blog. Meanwhile, in her latest column, Coulter has hit back at the newspaper that aired the latest plagiarism charges -- but did not refute them.

Comments:
Of course she is not actually guilty, because she didn't actually write them, but rather one of her assistants put the quote in the text or maybe that staffer lifted it from another source with out attribution and with out she (Ann) knowing about it. Those underlings responsible will be adequately delt with I'm sure.
Such a small amount of plagerism can not obscure the fact that her points are valid (paid cash money herself for them) and that her words even though borrowed are true.

Hey, where's the anonymouse claiming that Ann is a saint and you are the devil incarnate for besmirching her reputation?

Oh, I forgot. I'm not supposed to feed the trolls. Oops.

read about that yesterday. heh! she's a hag and a hack! fresh meat for al franken....

Wow, Conservative Streeter, you seem quite bitter. Sure you're not D.Daddio?

I crack myself up

It's so cute how conservative lip service to character vanishes as soon as their heroes are expected to actually exhibit any.

ConservativeStreeter, that there is what you often find around a round hay bale:

Circular bullshit.

Typso are one thing. There's one now!

People ewes the wrong word all the time, too. It's a common mistake.

They uses grammar incorrect, too.

But plagiarism is theft. It's the worst kind of intellectual sin: Theft and lying and hypocrisy all rolled into one.

Sometimes it happens when people are sloppy. Ann C., having put herself and her ilk on the pedestal that remains after tearing down all who oppose them, has no excuse. None. Not even if an assistant, or an intern, actually *did* it.

Conservativestreeter has a point. It is the "message" not the format or the deliverer or the reliability or whatever. The current-would-be-soveriegn-rulers of America are always on the point with the talking points the press releases etc.. They don't care if one of there own takes their exact words and reuses them. That is not plagerism that is loyality to the cause. There is only one source for the truth for them, so why try to jangle things up by interpreting what is said yourself?
Just quote the Party line, just tow the Party barge upriver, don't think: regurgitate.
We hear that same set of words whatever the subject maybe over and over from them. Ann has simply put their dictated non-collective thought into a book form as far as they are concerned. They will not see her loyality and adherence to the script as anything other than her good work. It certainly will not be seen as Plagerism.
There in lies the real split in America: Thinking Things versus Following Things.
Bush The Usurper has only provided a clarity to this split that was not there before.
Right on Ann Coulter, you are doing your god's work. Be louder about it and defend yourself and your faith! America needs to hear what you think!

Conservative Streeter betrays something else: She calls me stupid for perpetuating Coulter's name, and ideas, by helping circulate them. Very telling. Conservatives want to shut those up with whom they disagree. CS shows that conservatives are befuddled by their opponents, who actually value the exchange of ideas. And ya know, if good ideas fall to bullshit in a situation like that, then, well, eff all and let bullshit reign.

Hell's bells, we're just a few steps into the next Dark Age anyway -- might as well go whole hog.

Ann Coulter once again reminds me of why our founding fathers did not trust the masses and created a Republic rather than a Democracy.
Tyranny, even "Tyranny Of The Norm", is to be avoided.

At least she's published.

Now that's a laugh.

Anymouse haven't you picked up on the fact that most of the regulars on this blog are published almost daily? That some of them may bitch about their advocational writtings not being published is indicative of how used to being published on a regular basis they are.
Get a brain, pay attention, learn something.

Make that "avocational"

Daily.

Plus in academic publications.

Plus I got a book done, and in the works of being published.

'Mouse is a dipshit.

And Ann Coulter is a whore of an author -- and that's despite the fact that, to my horror, I agree with some of the arguments she makes in "Godless" -- assuming they're actually *her* ideas, which I doubted in the first place and now have more reason to.

I am going to shock you, I think. I read Godless. In the back of the book are something around 50+ references, and attributions.

However, I noticed several places in the book where she seemed to be quoting from some publication without saying who the quote came from.

I would think, considering her intelligence and education and knowledge of law, that she simply overlooked or forgot to give credit to the original authors.

After all, if she was intentionally plagiarizing, she wouldn't have included the notes and footnotes and referneces to the rest of the information contained.

Just offering a possiblity.

You're wasting your time Mark. These people have let politics ruin their lives. They have turned their back on everything they know because of a lost vote. A few more elections and there won't be any where to run. You can only change churches, friends, brands, etc so many times before you're all alone.

Mark, she was slopy if nothing else.

'Mouse: Shoo.

Most of the time you all are going off on someone I have to google them to find out who they are. I believe your trouble is you read to much trash. There, I said it, you read to much trash. If you'd stay away from far-left and far-right trash you'd have a smoother life.

Hoo hoo ha ha hee hee, hoo hoo ha ha hee hee, hoo hoo ha ha hee hee, hoo hoo ha ha hee hee, hoo hoo ha ha hee hee, hoo hoo ha ha hee hee, hoo hoo ha ha hee hee, hoo hoo ha ha hee hee, hoo hoo ha ha hee hee, hoo hoo ha ha hee hee!
oh crap am I going to be slaped with a lawsuit.

AnotherM said:"Most of the time you all are going off on someone I have to google them to find out who they are. "
Excellent, then you are learning something from all this. Whether we are saints or shitheads doesn't matter if you get something from it.
Mark said:"I would think, considering her intelligence and education and knowledge of law, that she simply overlooked or forgot to give credit to the original authors."
Yeah Mark I know yu think she's hot, and surely she couldn't be a fraud, but footnotes have to refer to something or they are called padding which will get you an F in any Freshman English course in the Nation all by itself even without plagerizing.
If she is that incompetent would you want her repersenting you in court?

Uh, who in the hell wants a SMOOTH LIFE? I mean, when it comes to politics. How boring.

Problem is, I think, this 'Mouse doesn't know political junkies -- and Americans who give a true deep-grunted, s-h-i-t -- when she sees it! Hang around, 'Mouse. It's just gonna get bettr the closer we get to November.

I have more of a historical bent than I do as a current events person.
One way to really assess the importance of these "political" type books is to read them well after the fact. I wouldn't pay full or even half price for Coulter's book, or for that matter one by Al Frankin, Hanity, Lieberman, Rush, Gore, etc.
But within a year of publication most of these "works" show up in thrift stores for about a $1 or 50 cent or even sometimes a quarter. That's when I buy them, read them or scan them. I find that I can read almost all of the pundits that way on the cheap whether from the Right or the Left. It saves a lot of money and the stuff really isn't that "out-of-date" (or pertinent) even two or five years latter. I don't check them out of my library for fear that I would add to their popularity and my County Commisioner would spend taxpayer money to purchase them. I, like the books' previous owners, seldom keep the books for long. I used to throw them away. But recently I decided to re-donate them to the thrift stores so that some of my bleeding heart liberal causes like Goodwill and AmVets can make some more profit on them.

"....you must deflect it by drawing notice to ANY grammatical, philosophical, academic or (fill in the blank) argument that you can find"

plagiarism apologist.

why do you hate intellectual property?

"I wouldn't pay full or even half price for Coulter's book, or for that matter one by Al Frankin...."

i read franken's rush limbaugh is a big fat idiot four years after it was published. laughed my ass off! more importantly, that book waked me from my political slumber, and for that i will always be grateful.
