'Doctrine greater than all our sin! (?)
Doctrine, doctrine, God's doctrine,
doctrine that will pardon and cleanse within;
Doctrine, doctrine, God's doctrine,
Doctrine is greater than all our sin!

Not that I'm worth a *&@!&?^$&! at "doing."
About two hours after I posted this today, I was pissy, self-defensive, jealous, impatient and a jerk in general, again, to somebody at work. If he sees this, I apologize, again.

Now as to disavowing the concept of "doctrine" you would have to disavow the concept of "The Principle" for that is what a doctrine is. An Action without a principle behind it is a random undirected action. What is faith without a principle that undergirds it? It is not then blind? Without Principle there is Chaos.
I therefore consider the choice of, doing over doctrine, one of them there false dichotomies you heard about this morning.
That's how I see at any rate.

It *is* a false dichotomy. An emphasis on one to the exclusion of the other is the problem!
Some people around this joint seem to believe that what one believes trumps all else.
I think that if you're going to err to an extreme, striving to *do* is better for all concerned than professing a belief.
I believe the people at the Jesus House (downtown OKC mission) are in need of food, clothing and prayer. So what, if I don't give, or go help, or pray?
Christians don't have the market cornered on truth, for we all see thropugh a glass darkly, or on doing good.
We can argue with the est of thw world about truth or get along by doing good one to another.
Oh, and it took two hours because I was alone until my coworker came in. It's easy to be kind one to another when there is no other.

James 2:14-26
Faith and Deeds
14 What good is it, my brothers, if a man claims to have faith but has no deeds? Can such faith save him? 15 Suppose a brother or sister is without clothes and daily food. 16 If one of you says to him, "Go, I wish you well; keep warm and well fed," but does nothing about his physical needs, what good is it? 17 In the same way, faith by itself, if it is not accompanied by action, is dead.
18 But someone will say, "You have faith; I have deeds."
Show me your faith without deeds, and I will show you my faith by what I do.
19 You believe that there is one God. Good! Even the demons believe that—and shudder.
20 You foolish man, do you want evidence that faith without deeds is useless? 21 Was not our ancestor Abraham considered righteous for what he did when he offered his son Isaac on the altar? 22 You see that his faith and his actions were working together, and his faith was made complete by what he did. 23 And the scripture was fulfilled that says, "Abraham believed God, and it was credited to him as righteousness," and he was called God's friend. 24 You see that a person is justified by what he does and not by faith alone.
25 In the same way, was not even Rahab the prostitute considered righteous for what she did when she gave lodging to the spies and sent them off in a different direction? 26 As the body without the spirit is dead, so faith without deeds is dead.
