How would I look in an M.Div?

As an arm of the Christian Church (Disciples of Christ)for many years Phillips has put out a number of unusual people. You would fit right in with your E and your R with the ones I know.
The motto of the founding denomination is "No creed but Christ" and a major element of the denomination was the combining of all christians into group i.e. ecumenical. (not working out too well even after 200 years or so) Trixie the Disciples have had woman ministers since 1843, so you will fit in as well I would think.
Give it a good look.

Hell, a seminary whose denomination was partially founded by a guy named Raccoon John Smith would have to accommodate an Erudite Redneck would it not?
A lot of United Methodist ministers have also attended Phillips. Many of my friends are now taking classes through the Oklahoma City University/Phillips Graduate Theological Program. You can get your degree without having to go to the Tulsa campus for everything.
Courses:
Church History
History of the United Methodist Tradition
Introduction to Theology
Mission of the Church
New Testament
Old Testament
United Methodist Doctrine and Polity
Word and Worship
The OCU/Phillips Graduate Theological Program will benefit individuals:
Seeking a theological Master's degree, such as a Master of Religious Education.
Participating in the Professional Certification route for ordination as a deacon, such as Christian education, music, parish nursing, etc.
Beginning a Master of Divinity Degree who will transfer to a seminary to complete the studies.
Enrolled in the Advanced Course of Study who are seeking conference membership.
Wimberly School of Religion
It's not cheap, I'll have to say, but none of the schools of religion or seminaries is. I've already put an ex-husband through OCU -- maybe they would give me a break.

This is my denomination, so thats why it all just seems like common sense to me. Grandpa was a preacher, Daddy was Chairman of the Board of his local church.
The most liberal church in THIS town, let me tell you! A big shift from my husband's Nazarene church we attended before he died.
Do we have to call you Rev ER now?

Didn't you suggest one time that we join up together...
You preach, I'll sing, and we'll get by on "love offerings"?
Ha!

Ha!
Or was that, you sing, and I preach? Do you know all the verses of "Bringing in the Sheaves"? Or wouldya just wanna sing the first and third?
1 Timothy has the qualifications of being a pastor:
1Here is a trustworthy saying: If anyone sets his heart on being an overseer,[a] he desires a noble task. 2Now the overseer must be above reproach, the husband of but one wife, temperate, self-controlled, respectable, hospitable, able to teach, 3not given to drunkenness, not violent but gentle, not quarrelsome, not a lover of money. 4He must manage his own family well and see that his children obey him with proper respect. 5(If anyone does not know how to manage his own family, how can he take care of God's church?) 6He must not be a recent convert, or he may become conceited and fall under the same judgment as the devil. 7He must also have a good reputation with outsiders, so that he will not fall into disgrace and into the devil's trap.
If you can meet all those qualifications, go for it.
My father, who was an ordained minister, refused to take a job pastoring a chirch. He used to say since he couldn't manage his own kids, he wasn't qualified.

Mark, dude, I said NOTHING whatsoever about becoming a pastor, or even a minister!
An M.Div. would aid in my interest and studies in the Euro-Indian encounter on this continent, as well as my interest in the Reformation.
Plus it would keep me out of trouble for another few years ...

Sorry. My brother has a M.Div and he is a minister, specializing in mussions. Another brother has an M.Div and he is a minister of Music. I still say go for it. Maybe it will answer some of those questions you have. Or confuse you further.
