'Dear Dr. Dobson'

Presented as publshed by the Colorado Springs Gazette, without (initial) comment. What do y'all think?

Here is the text of a letter that Focus on the Family founder James Dobson said he received from Supreme Court Justice Samuel Alito. Dobson read the letter on his radio broadcast Wednesday.

Dear Dr. Dobson:

This is just a short note to express my heartfelt thanks to you and the entire staff of Focus on the Family for your help and support during the past few challenging months.

I would also greatly appreciate it if you would convey my appreciation to the good people from all parts of the country who wrote to tell me that they were praying for me and for my family during this period.

As I said when I spoke at my formal investiture at the White House last week, the prayers of so many people from around the country were a palpable and powerful force.

As long as I serve on the Supreme Court I will keep in mind the trust that has been placed in me.

I hope that we’ll have the opportunity to meet personally at some point in the future.

In the meantime my entire family and I hope that you and the Focus on the Family staff know how we appreciate all that you have done.

Sincerely yours,

Samuel Alito

Comments:
It's just a "bread and butter" note thanking Dobson for not scutteling his nomination.
So what's the suprize? SpongeDob was told by the White House that Alito was Kosher (eh, maybe I should say "Correct") on the Abortion issue. We would expect cosy, would we not. Friends are friends. After all the VP goes quail hunting with SCOTUS members (I bet that won't happen anymore, can you even imagine...)doesn't he? It's all in the family.
Now the real question is why did the Dob put the letter out?

I think Barry Lynn went a tad overboard, but the letter does make the justice look bought.

Thanking FOTF for prayers is one thing, for "support" in the context apparent in the letter, is political, and the "hope to see you in person" part is pretty scary.

Since Barry Lynn's job, like FOTF Action, is to be extreme, he's just playing the game, really.

Dang. Has anybody seen REM870 lately? Hope he's all right.

Nick said: "I don't think the American people are going to get all that apoplectic about Dobson reading on the air a thank-you note from Alito"

I agree, they won't get upset, not today. Now this little note is part of the public record. It may come back to haunt Alito and Dobson. If Roe vs Wade is overturned, it may be of more interest then.

Ha! It *is* a "pimp thang"!

Still here. The project I've been working on suddenly became very high profile within the US Navy and DOD, so I've not had much time to peruse blogs lately. I hit a big milestone yesterday, so I can take it a little easier for the remainder of the week.

Looks like I've missed out on several discussions. I'll try and get back in the game. : )

As I’ve said many times, this is the BIG difference in Republicans and democrats. Republicans are team players. What is good for the team is what is important. They work together, support and appreciate the support of all the team players and don’t hide the fact, or care who knows who’s on the team. Democrats are just like E. Redneck has stated many times, ME ME ME, MINE MINE MINE. They work only for themselves and hide the fact if in some cases they do show support for someone else.

Thanks for checking in, REM!

Anon, Will Rogers said it better. :-P

Democrats are...the party that says government can make you richer, smarter, taller and get the chickweed out of your lawn. Republicans are the party that says government doesn't work, and then they get elected to prove it.
See I have a cents of humor. gday

Hey Nick, a true "gangster" mafioso type would have just sent him a gold Roladex, via a third party, without anything written or said.
