Either way this goes, and it can go either way. We are at the beginning of the end of something that Half of America has Supported.
Which ever way it goes, what will the other half do? Will we finally see that they divided us to conquer us.

George Bush is a born-again Christian. Yet, it is apparent that the use of torture, and the doctrine that the ends justify the means, flies in the face of Christian Morality. Jesus of Nazareth taught the Golden Rule, "Treat people the way you want them to treat you." As a consequence, mainstream Christians reject tactics such as torture and eavesdropping on civilians. However, since the thirties, some theologians have argued that the elemental rules of Christian morality do not apply to state leaders. In 1932, Reinhold Niebuhr wrote "Moral Man and Immoral Society," in which he argued. "The responsible leader of a political community is forced to use coercion to gain his ends." This ethical doctrine became the basis for the Western "realist" political philosophy.

Oh, so we have to wait for Bush to break the law to impeach him? How come it's OK to rumble through impeaching the previous president for obstructing justice because he said there "is" no relationship with Monica Lewinsky (which, by that time, there was not; further, what justice was obstructed by this interpretation of "is"??), and not OK to impeach this president for LYING IN THE STATE OF THE UNION ADDRESS to the entire populace about WMD?

I hope Lewis grows as many sets of 'em as it takes to go ahead and impeach. Unless there is some obscure law against impeaching a president in time of war?
 
These are the only constitutional provisions for impeachment, and they are enough:

Article I, Section 2
Clause 5: The House of Representatives shall choose their Speaker and other Officers; and shall have the sole Power of Impeachment.

Article I, Section 3

Clause 6: The Senate shall have the sole Power to try all Impeachments. When sitting for that Purpose, they shall be on Oath or Affirmation. When the President of the United States is tried, the Chief Justice shall preside: And no Person shall be convicted without the Concurrence of two thirds of the Members present.

Clause 7: Judgment in Cases of Impeachment shall not extend further than to removal from Office, and disqualification to hold and enjoy any Office of honor, Trust or Profit under the United States: but the Party, (defendant), convicted shall nevertheless be liable and subject to Indictment, Trial, Judgment and Punishment, according to Law.

Article II, Section 4
The President, Vice President and all civil Officers of the United States, shall be removed from Office on Impeachment for, and Conviction of, Treason, Bribery, or other high Crimes and Misdemeanors.
 
The legal fraternity in America has already started their voting on his guilt or not. Bush can not be impeached unless the Democrats somehow win the House and Senate and the vast majority of the Legal Establishment see him as having committed a crime. That is not the official political way but it is the practical truth.
If he is impeached then Cheney is President. You would have to impeach Cheney first and America doesn't have the stomach to do this twice.
Meanwhile George has another way out of this that is historically fool proof: start another war.
 
Yer right. This is all wishful thinking. ... But there is nothing to keep twin bills of impeachment -- one for Bush and one for Cheney -- from being filed, and considered at the same time.

My money is on Syria next.
 
Makes you wonder if Cheney wasn't the choice for just such a situation -- or is GWB just effing lucky?
 
We, the People, are paying the price of our own indifference -- exacerbated by fear.
