Nick! I can't believe you let that head bust -- "surpise" -- go without comment. And now Blogger won't let me back in to fix it, for some reason. Pbth.

Hey, I still like that "political compass" thing best. It has more questions and gets closer to the heart, or in yer case, heartless, of the matter. (Snicker.)

Used to be, we'da just barely been home by 4:43 a.m.!

No surprises here.
My little X is in the middle of the lower right hand block of the compass. If it were a real compass I would be SE.
However I would call myself somewhat more Libertarian, but this seems to be a two party test.

You are a Social Liberal
(75% permissive)
and an... Economic Liberal
(26% permissive)
You are best described as a:
Strong Democrat (Yellow Dog Populist))
You exhibit a very well-developed sense of Right and Wrong and believe in economic fairness.

One thing more, nobody should be doing nothin at 4:30 am but snoring.

If you score anarchist on this test does you url automatically go to the Homeland security office?

Man, y'all get up early.

Teditor, that's another reason I like winter!

If I've been up and got an hour or so's work* done before the sun comes up, I feel like I've accomplished somethin' that would've made my farmer-stockman Daddy ER proud, and it usually sets the tone for a busy day of gettin' R done!

* "Work." I have worked for a living. I use the term these days figuratively. Whatever else it is, readin' and thinkin' and writin' for a livin' ain't "work."

Unsurprisingly, I'm more socially permissive than you are. Perhaps surprisingly, I'm also more economically conservative. I believe, however, if memory serves, that I was squarely in the company of Ghandi and MLK. So there.

Crap, I mean I'm more economically *permissive*, i.e., more of a believer in the free market.

Well, dadgum, B.

A heathern? And a free marketeer?

Were you a 1950s Country Club Repub in a former life? ;-) ;)

Oh, no, wait. A free-love lecturer during the Gilded Age! ;-)

I'd pay to hear ya speak!

(Snicker).

I guess you wouldn't be surprised that I'm firmly and squarely Republican conservative. ;)

Well, we knew you were square. :-) Hee hee.

I think the free market is probably the best of the available options for providing goods and some services. I draw the line, however, at the idiotic notion that b/c the market does a decent job regulating the price of widgets, that we should put it in charge of health care and education.

And as you know, I'm totally pro-union and pro-regulation. I'm not, like, some freakazoid Ayn Randian or anything.

I took this a couple months ago, and I am a Socialist. Results here.

Here's a tidbit on the free market and corporate structure my son clued me into over the holiday: The concept of the corporation is an invention of the Christian Monastic Structure. The Church invented the most successful secular business model yet known, the corporation.
In fact the oldest surviving corporation is the Benedictine Order of the Catholic Church, founded circa 529 A.D.

Actually, I'm more round than square. ;)

Drlobojo, that's really interesting.

Actually re. free market, I'm not so much pro-corporation. More pro-small business. Seems to me that corporations by definition tend toward monopolies, which is inimical to the idea of a free market. Just for the sake of clarity.

Wow, you are more of a socialist than I.

I exhibit a very well-developed sense of Right and Wrong and believe in economic fairness. loc: (56, -75)

65% Social Liberal

30% Economic Liberal

Democrat

Well, if I have an opinion at all, it's usually of the "always" or "never" variety.
