Bubba in Dubai
The righty rights will dwell on former President Clinton's comment, in response to a question, that the invasion of Iraq was a mistake.
They will condemn him for speaking poorly of a sitting president, especially while abroad.
Three things:
Uno. He was speaking to Americans, at the American University.
Two-o. He said much more to be commended than condemned.
Three-o. Thr righties keep trying to apply World War II and Vietnam War-era sensibilities that no longer apply.
Troops get their news that way most young people do these days: from other young people who get it from sources that usually are NOT the main stream media.
The whole world is wired, and increasingly wireless, 24/7 -- so shut up claiming that anti-war protesters and the Dems in the U.S. Senate are giving away anything by speaking up.
The fact is this country IS TORN -- and to pretend that it's not is (another damned) lie. Those boys and girls are over there fighting for all of us, not just the righties.
They're fighting for truth, justice and the American way -- not the way the current leadership of the U.S. government is acting.
Bubba in Dubai: Read all about it, from the Khaleej Times.
Then there's this:
When asked if they trust Bush more than they had Clinton, 48 percent of respondents said they trusted Bush less, while 36 percent said they trusted him more and 15 percent said they trusted Bush the same as Clinton.
For the first time, more than half of the public thinks Bush is not honest and trustworthy -- 52 percent to 46 percent.
Read all about it from CNN.

Perhaps John Murtha of Penn. upstaged Bubba today. The Democratic War Hawk of the House, a highly decorated Marine Corps. vertern of Vietnam who more than fits the John Wayne mold, said with tears in his eyes today that we have done all we can get done in Iraq, we have screwed the pooch, time to get out in the next six months. Bubba can't live up to that kind of sincerity.
Have you ever heard of the Roach Motel? Roaches check in but they don’t check out! W has created the Terrorist Motel, Terrorist check in but they don’t check out. How many times have you heard they are coming from all around the world to fight, AND die in Iraq? Last I checked they were dying at a 50/1 ratio. Doesn’t that sound better than being strung out all around the globe causing death and destruction? If we pull out I hope you all carry a spare pair of underwear for when someone runs in your office screaming, LA has been nuked.
Yet Clintons lie didn't hurt anyone except for Mrs. Clinton. Oh and all the tax payers who had to flip the bill for his partisan impeachment. Bush's lies on the other hand...
I wouldn't trust Clinton with my sister but I would trust him with my military a lot sooner than I would trust Bush.

Teditor, My many favorites are spread over time. Hank W.'s Hear That Lonesome Whipperwill and Satified Mind. Dolly Parton: Silver Threads and Golden Needles (Weaver's do that one good too). Glen Campbell: Wichita Lineman and Galveston. Early Garth Brooks.
Anything and everything by Emmylou Harris; ditto Johnny Cash, even when he got with Nine Inch Nails.
Lyle Lovett: L.A. County and If I Had a Boat
My pick from the last year or so would be Whiskey Lullabye.
Anon if you believe your 50 to 1 roach motel figures, you would have loved the KIA propaganda from Vietnam. By your calculations all of the 100,000 people we have killed over there were terrorist.
Our being in Iraq may actually increase the probability of L.A. being nuked because we aren't paying attention to the things we should be, like the loose nuclear materials spread all the hell over Russia and the ex-Soviet Republics.
Like all the damn unchecked cargo comeing by truck from Canada and Mexico under NAFTA, the cargo containers at our ports, and the cargo in those same passenger planes that we check the passengers so deligently before they board.
If you think the American public was pissed at the Bush
administration because of the screw ups on Katrina wait till a misplaced nuke melts the oil refineries in Houston.

You guys have fun over here.
I'll be back when you have something meaningful to talk about.
I will say one thing though.
Keep on hammering the President.
Every Democrat that I interact with has sung the "Bush Lied" song until they have become a characature of themselves.
Keep it up, PLEASE!!

Hey Tug, he did lie, as did Kerry and a whole lot of others. They lied to themselves, and in doing so betrayed their responsibilities.
I'm worried when an admin that lied about yellow cake starts saying that everybody else is trying to rewrite history. It seems to me they are the ones who are desperately trying to rewrite the script as they go along in production.
Well, Anon, which time was Wilson lying about Yellow Cake?
The time when he reported to Congress (Under Oath) that Iraq did go to Niger to try to buy it, or in his Op-Ed piece when he said that Iraq didn't?
The thing that I don't get about this whole argument is that you can dig up contradictory statements from every single one of the President's critics, but you can't find one where the President contradicts himself.
They ALL voted for it before they voted against it.
But HE'S the one who is lying.
At least if he is, he is smart enough to keep his lie straight...

Best I can tell, it was a unilateral decision on the part of POTUS to go to war. Congress voted on it after the fact. So it goes to Bush the responsibility for the reasons for going to war. If he got bad info from his admin guys, then he's still responsible, being Chief Executive and head of the war office and all.
Nobody has yet proven that the information was bad.
It would be very good for the Democrats if it were to prove to be bad, but that hasn't been done yet.
(No matter WHAT Michael Moore says...)
But you are right. President Bush is the commander in chief of the Military.
If History proves him to be right, do you think he will be given any credit for making the right decision in the face of all of this criticism and partisan bickering?
Dog Nabbit! I was going to stay out of this useless ridiculousness.
Y'all have fun bashin' the President.
See ya on the next post...

From Harry Reid:
Dear Friend,
On Sunday the Republican National Committee is going to start running ads against me in my home state of Nevada - well I must be doing something right if they are already that scared.
The ads claim that I am politicizing the war in Iraq. Quiet frankly this attack is so ludicrous it would be funny, if the topic were not so serious. Our soldiers are fighting everyday in Iraq, but instead of engaging in a legitimate debate on the merits of our current course in Iraq, George Bush and Dick Cheney do what they always do and attempt to smear their opponents.
This week alone, we've seen Stephen Hadley. . . Donald Rumsfeld. . . President Bush. . . and Vice President Cheney lash out at their critics. . . yet they all remain silent when it comes to giving our troops and the American people a plan. Tired rhetoric and political attacks do nothing to solve our problems in Iraq.
As a former boxer I know, your opponent always starts to swing wildly when you've got them on the ropes. The way to beat them isn't to hesitate, but to continue landing punches until he goes down. The Iraq war is too important an issue to allow cheap political attacks to prevent us from doing what is best for our troops and best for our country.
Back when I was Nevada Gaming Commissioner the mob planted a bomb inside my car. That didn't scare me from doing what was right then, and I certainly am not scared of George Bush and his gang now. Democrats are going to keep pressing forward demanding accountability for intelligence failures and demanding a strategy for success that will bring the troops home.
Call the White House and let them know you are tired of political attacks and want real solutions for Iraq. You can reach the White House by dialing:
202-456-1111
Thank you,
Harry Reid
