Jesus the Cable Guy

Great pic seen along U.S. 271 in Mena, Ark. Photo by Dr. ER.

People have always depicted Jesus as similar to themselves, which is why in Euro-American art He tends to be whiter than he could've been. (Actually, I think he probably looked something like Jamie Farr, who played the Lebanese Corporal Klinger on M*A*S*H: dark skinned, dark hair.)

In this pic, Jesus is depicted as a redneck, a la Larry the Cable Guy.

Ya gotta meet people where they are.

Comments:
I just can't get the picture of Klinger nailed to a cross out of my head. I mean, he's in a dress and that feather boa that he always wore. It's a pretty distubing picture. Thanks, ER.

Dang it. I meant the actor, not the character!

Hey, here's another image from my warped mind:

The Apostle Paul? Danny DeVito.

Pastor Tim will have a cow! He hates them church signs!

Here I am ER, acknowledging you made a post besides the one about Rev. Phelps and his congregation/family.

As usual, I have a simplistic view on this subject. Jesus is what He needs to be in order to bring salvation.

Oh and Danny Devito as Paul? Naw, he isn't near sighted, as far as i know.

Remember that nearsighted bank teller on Twilight Zone, who was left alone after the nuclear war that totally destroyed the world? Played by Burgess Meredith. He was as happy as a clam until he broke his pop bottle bottom lens glasses.

That's who I picture when I picture Paul in my mind's eye. Burgess Meredith without his glasses.

Pastor Tim hates more than he lets on.

(jab, poke, jab)

MBR, thanky.

If I was still livin' in Texas, ol' Kinky'd have my vote over that Rick "Ken doll" Perry, fer sure. And at one time, back when he was a mere ag commissioner, he'da known me in a crowd, since I was a Texas farm-and-ranch editor. :-)

Perry has lost it, and has strayed far from his ways as a Democrat from Paint Creek, Texas, sinbce he became the Grand Poobah Governor of the great state of Texas.
