United Nations of America
That's the new organization I propose. Forget the United Nations.
Where to put the headquarters?
Somewhere out of the way, not close to any big city, so the delegates won't be distracted, so they can actually confer and come up with ways for the civilized world to get along -- without trying to be a global lawmaking or regulatory body, the idea of "international law" being 1., oxymoronic., 2., an insult to national sovereignty and 3., oxymoronic.
Where?
Felt, Okla.
Or Gotebo, Okla.
Or Slapout, Okla.!

I love that name, "Slapout." Do you know the history behind how the town got its name?
Just to really cheer y'all up...I've been told gas is going to go up to $4 a gallon for sure. The question is how much higher than that and for how long...So what do y'all think --is it time to start that pipeline from Alaska? I know even if they started drillin' tomorrow, it'd be awhile before we saw it at the pumps, but still....

My daddy always said it was called "slapout" because if you got that far down the road with no gas in your car, you were slap out of luck.
Slapout used to be the big jumping off point on the drive out to the Panhandle. Oh, wait, what am I saying?! It still is! It is, most literally, at least 45 minutes from anything else. Plus, it's about an hour and a half to Guymon from Slapout -- means if you're driving from down state you're finally back in God's Country.
