A "war" no more
Some lunkheads just THINK ol' ER doedn't know what he's talkin' about.

From The Christian Science Monitor
What's in a name? Would the "war on terrorism" with a new brand be just as effective?
Try: "struggle against violent extremism."
Read all about it.

Lengthy riff on this particular potential joke on last night's 'Daily Show'.
Semi-lengthy article in this month's 'Vanity Fair' about how we don't really want to discuss this war, so much. If we talk about the human cost, we are somehow undermining the war effort (or if people have to look at actual dead people on the nightly news, they might just balk a little).
My main observation about Vietnam was always: that one didn't prove that Americans don't like wars, they just don't like Long Wars. If you can go on and on with one with limited media coverage, well...Blank check.

OK. A "struggle against violent extremism." if you will.
I still say that the American people uniting to fight this what-ever-you-want-to-call-it will bring it to an end quicker.

HA! Bachelor claims he is "Centrist" and yet he gets his info from Leftist TV shows like "The Daily Show" and Leftist Magazines like "Vanity Fair"!
Damn it, Mark.
I read Newsweek. Foreign Affairs. Reader's Digest. The magazine of the Sons of Confederate Veterans. Entertainment Weekly (once in a while). The American Historical Journal and The Chronicles of Oklahoma. One rural county paper and one major metro paper. I have in the past surbscribed to Hot Rod, Progressive Farmer, The Nation, Mother Jones, The Sword of the Lord, and the magazine of the National Religious Broadcasters Association, The Quill and others.
What can you tell about me from that?
Dude, your overly simplistic, black-and-white, "leftist"-and-"conservative" world view is making me tired.
You are welcome here. But I'm done letting your "humble and uneducated" ruse slide. If I think you're being especially shallow, or obtuse, or plain dumb, I'm going to call you on it. :-)

Indeed. Last time I checked,I was agonizing as to whether or not I should describe myself as radical.
Mind you, I disagree with most leftists about guns, so...
