Schiavo, RIP; Unscripted Irony
From a friend:
I just realized an irony on that Terri Shiavo case that I haven't seen anything written about. She was apparently starving herself when she collapsed back in 1990 or whenever she had the heart-attack. That apparently was the end-time of her rational thinking ability, because her heart stopped long enough to do permanent brain damage. So, she's dying by being "starved." Hmmmm. Was she not dying back then, too? By starvation? Wasn't her natural mechanism kicking in to end it all – ie, heart attack??
This is just a very real, unscripted irony.
May Terri Schiavo, finally, rest in peace.

1) Read up on the T4 program in Nazi Germany. (http://www.jewishvirtuallibrary.org/jsource/Holocaust/disabled.html) I'll let you draw your ownconclusions.
Actually there was about a full page more of points I wished to make, butafter a re-read I decided not to send it to you. It came across way too bitter.
I will say whomever your friend was that did the "Unscripted Irony" was showing extremely poor taste.

Hmm. My only personal point was that it was none of Congress's business. I meant to encourage discussion, mainly. My friend, a fellow journalist, might have poor taste (most of us do), but it IS ironic.
I don’t think you appreciate the true purpose of this kind of hoopla. The press needs fluff to cover that keeps our minds off any real news going on. Death and destruction, by our imperialist government, in Iraq and Afghanistan being the big ones in my mind.
News for tomorrow:
Pope in vegetative state…..
Cry goes out throughout the world….
Don’t pull the plug on the POPE!!!!!!!!!
If they could keep him going think of the mileage. This would give our pathetic media fluff to give the masses something BIG for as long as they could keep the old boy ticking.
Pathetic.

The mainstream press would have people at the watercooler believe that her husband KILLED her to get the ONE MILLION DOLLAR SETTLEMENT!!! Actually.....
He got half of it upfront (350K after attys fees), with the other half held in a court adminstered trust for her care....and did he spend it on a new house and a Ferrari? Nope....Sorry....He spent the whole bounty on his lawyer to help get her laid to rest! Would the public villify him if the media told them that? He could have got off scott free with 350K by just leaving her ass....but he didn't....
I'm not saying the guy's not a bit of a jerk, he most surely is, but do we really want the laws leaving this up to the spouse changed?
It applies to your spouse too remember....
The big lesson is get a living will made no matter how young you are and appoint your lawyer your guardian....that way you take it out of the hands of the parents or the spouse....and leave specific instructions for that lawyer to follow...
Let's let her rest in peace, but let her husband who I believe carried out her wishes rest also, and also the scores of judges who did nothing more here than ADMINISTER THE LAW!!!

I agree. Remmeber why the mainstream press is called mainstream, y'all. It follows the path of least resistance. Lowest common denominaotr and all that. People expect too much of it.
