About that ranch at Crawford
Friend of ol' ER's from college, Braingirl at Hoosiersatemybrain, a cowgal from the Oklahoma Panhandle now livin' in Indianapolis, has been writin' about El Presidente and his lil hacienda outside Crawford, Texas.
Some other person has been tearin' into Dubya, accusin' him of bein a poser or worse.
I've been scatterin' my thoughts in there some, too. It's pretty interesting readin' if you got any farmin'-ranchin'-rural blood in you atall.
Go here to see where it all started, with "Good Cowboys are Hard to Find," and go here to see where it has got to so far, "Details on the Bush Ranch."

Good grief. Doug apparently has a chip on his shoulder over something. Just because he's never seen President Bush on a horse doesn't mean a darn thing. Maybe President Bush isn't a very good horseman and doesn't permit shutterbugs to watch. After watching President Reagan on horseback, I can see why he wouldn't want to be compared. And just because he owns a ranch doesn't mean he performs some or any of the tasks. Doctors have nurses, executives have secretaries, and ranchers have cowboys.
Heck, I've never seen President Bush brush his teeth, but I assume he does. Sheesh.
President Bush's original comment to needing a good cowboy makes me wonder, though. President Chirac might like the country life, and if so, I'm sure it came up in conversation with President Bush. Perhaps President Bush would like to have President Chirac over for a weekend of good ol' ranchin'. :)

What Feline said. ... Politics ends at the corral's edge -- or the gatherin' pen or grazin' paddock or the stables or pasture or ... welp, you get the idea.
